Yaar Na Rakhya Raazi

By Sarang

In your life your priorities should be straight. You should know what matters the most in your life and do whatever you can for that. Don't waste your life in useless and false pursuits. Don't ignore the important things in your life.Focus on what matters.

Bhullay Shah a very famous sufi poet says the following:
Parh parh kitabaan ilm diyan tu naam rakh liya qaazi
Hath vich pharrh kay talvaar tu naam rakh liya ghazi
Makkay Madinay ghoom aaya tay naam rakh liya haaji
Bhullay Shah hasil ki kita je tu yaar na rakhaya raazi
A very crude translation of this is that
You read some books and you claimed the title of a scholar
Took a sword in you hand and you claimed the title of a holy warrior
Went to Makkah and Madina and you claimed the title of Haji
Bhullay Shah what did you gained if you didnt keep your friend happy

Never Loose Hope - Never Give Up

By Sarang

You will not be successful in everything you do in life. There will be occasions when you will fail. Remember that failing is not the end of the world. Learn from you experience and try again... and again... and again. You don't really loose if you grasp the lesson from the experience. At the end of every attempt you will be better than before. Never loose hope and never give up. Be positive and stay positive.

Thomas Edison has a number of inventions to his name. He failed in a number of his attempts. Here is what he has to say about it:
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. "

Mary Pickford says:
"If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down but the staying down"

Napoleon Hill says:
"The majority of men meet with failure because of their lack of persistence in creating new plans to take the place of those which fail."

And last but not the least see what Nick Vujicic has to say. From this short video you can learn a lesson of a life time. Nick was born in Australia without any limbs. Can you imagine how tough his life would have been! Can you imagine the failures he might have seen! Can you imagine the pain he must have seen in his life! I don't think you can. Watch the video and be inspired.

Are you going to finish strong?

Stop Waiting for Super Hero

By Sarang

This post is a sequel of my previous post "Waiting for Super Hero".

I am sorry to disappoint you but the fact is that there is no such thing as a super hero. I know i am breaking your poor little heart by saying this but this is for your own good. You need to come out of this fantasy world and face this truth. IF you want to see some change YOU need to take action yourself . Take practice steps towards the solutions rather than mere pseudo-intellectual discussions. We all love to talk about national and global issues but when it comes to practical implementation most of us chicken out. We look for easy way out rather than practically doing something about it.

Do something practical. Make some positive contribution. There is no harm in thinking big but try to practically start with even something small. Do not even try to solve all of the world problems in one go rather solve one small problem at a time. Choose your battle and then attack.

For example if I have problem with filth in my neighborhood I have two options. I can start blaming and cursing the government in every gathering for not cleaning my neighborhood and continue living in that filth OR I forget about the government and do something about it myself. I can start off by cleaning my street myself or form a small group of volunteers from the neighborhood and divide this task. I can even convince people to give small monthly contribution so that someone is hired to do this job.

You can contribute to any world problem if you really want to. Whether it is global warming, poverty, war, corruption or even traffic mess in your city, you can do your share of work to make it better. The pathetic attitude that "it wont make any difference", "someone else should do it", "why should I do it", "its not my responsibility", "no one else is doing anything about it", "it is governments responsibility" is destroying us slowly. Whatever the problem, think and find out what can you contribute to make it a little better. Many a times you might not be able to make much of a difference but at least you would have tried unlike the other pathetic losers who just talked about it. Unfortunately most of us are lazy bums and hence choose the easier way out which is to talk, talk and just talk.

Only talking is not the solution to the problems. For Gods sake don't just speak of changing the world! Do something positive! Anything at all! No matter how small! Think and choose something right now and put your energies into it until you achieve it. Make small contributions to make this world a better place.

Trying to Make Everyone Happy

By Sarang

You cannot make everyone happy all the time. It is simply not possible. Don't waste your energy in trying to achieve this. Don't spend sleepless nights thinking about what someone said about you or what other might be thinking about you. Stop looking at yourself from others eyes. This is the worst form of mental torture you can inflict on yourself.

Listen to other peoples opinions but make an intelligent decision yourself. Don't blindly jump into something without using your own head first. In your life you will get loads and loads of opinions from people around you because we all love to share our 'wisdom' but you need to decide which opinion to take and which to ignore. Always remember that "opinions are like assholes, everyone has one" so you will always keep getting them on every damn aspect of your life. Remember that some of these opinions can get you out of shit but others can bury you even deeper.

There is an age old fable about father, son and their donkey. A number of variation of this fable are available, all of which have the same moral. I am sharing with you the one written by Lida Brown McMurry in her book "Fifty Famous Fables". Read and try to grasp the lesson.

THE MILLER, HIS SON, AND THEIR DONKEY

"I shall have to sell that donkey of ours," said a miller to his son. "I can not afford to keep him through the winter. I will take him to town this very morning to see if I can find a buyer. You may go with me." In a little while the miller, his son, and the donkey were on their way to town.

They had not gone far when they met some girls going to a party. They were talking and laughing as they went along. One of them said, "Look at that man and boy driving a donkey. One of them surely might ride."

The miller heard what they said, and quickly made his you mount the donkey, while he walked along at its side.

After a while they came to a group of old men who were talking very earnestly. "There," said one, "I was just saying that boys and girls have no respect for the aged. You see it is true in this case. See that boy riding while his old father has to walk."

"Get down, my son," said his father, "and I will ride." So they went on.

They next met some women coming from town. "Why!" they cried, "your poor little boy is nearly tired out. How can you ride and make him walk?" So the miller made his son ride on the donkey behind him.

They were now in town. A man coming down the street called to the miller, "Why do you make your donkey carry such a load? You can carry him better than he can carry you."

At this the miller and his son got off the donkey. They tied the donkey's legs together, turned him over on his back; and began to carry him.

A crowd soon gathered to see the strange sight. As they were crossing a bridge the donkey became frightened at the hooting of the crowd. He broke loose, fell into the river, and was drowned.

The miller was angry and ashamed. He said, "There! I have tried to please everybody and have only made a fool of myself. After this I shall do as I think best and let people say what they will."
